Fuitina – the Southern Italian term for secretly running off to make your clandestine love official…cue the wedding bells! It is the only term, although quite out of circulation in modern day Italian, equivalent to the English term “to elope.” I had to adopt this outdated and wonderful and fantastically fitting word to my vocabulary because, well, I once eloped in Italy myself! Good story for another day…
With Fuitina, I wanted to capture the spontaneous beauty of eloping in Italy. The spirit that Italians bring to the table when they see something deserving of a celebration that needs no premeditation and the old world backdrop that needs no decor.
